Dogsledding in Adventdalen with GreenDog

There are some experiences that stay with you long after you leave and our dog sledding adventure in Adventdalen on Svalbard is definitely one of them.

We joined a half-day (about four hour) dog sledding tour with Greendog, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. From the very beginning, it felt authentic and hands-on. Before setting off, we got to help prepare the dogs—harnessing them and getting them ready for the run. The excitement from the huskies was contagious; you could feel their energy and eagerness to go.

Once we started, everything went quiet in the most magical way. The only sounds were the sled gliding over the snow and the rhythmic running of the dogs. We made our way deep into Adventdalen, surrounded by wide, untouched Arctic landscapes. The light was absolutely unreal, a soft, glowing evening sky that painted the valley in pastel shades. It felt peaceful, raw, and completely unforgettable.

After the ride, we gathered back at the camp where we were welcomed with a warm cup of coffee and freshly made waffles! Exactly what you need after being out in the cold. As a perfect ending, we also got to meet the puppies, which was just as adorable as it sounds.

This experience is something we would recommend wholeheartedly. If you're visiting Svalbard, dog sledding in Adventdalen is truly a must-do—both for the adventure and for the connection to nature and these incredible animals.
