Dog Sledding to an Ice Cave in Svalbard

We started the day by preparing the huskies, helping to harness them and get everything ready for the journey ahead. The energy was incredible with excited dogs barking and jumping, eager to run across the snowy landscapes. It's such a special feeling to be part of the process, not just a passenger.
The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Clear blue skies and bright sunshine lit up the Arctic surroundings, creating that crisp, magical light Svalbard is known for. But don't be fooled by the sun, the temperature was a freezing -25°C. Luckily, once we got moving, the cold quickly became part of the adventure.
As we glided through the vast wilderness, surrounded by mountains and endless white landscapes, it felt like stepping into another world. After some time on the sled, we reached our destination: a hidden ice cave deep within the glacier.
Before heading inside, we stopped for lunch in a cozy snow cave. There's something incredibly special about sitting down in the middle of the Arctic, enjoying a warm, simple expedition-style meal ("turmat") while surrounded by nothing but snow and silence. Meanwhile, the dogs were also fed and given a well-deserved rest.
Then came one of the highlights of the day, entering the ice cave. Walking down into the glacier felt almost unreal. The ice glowed in deep shades of blue, with layers formed over many years creating beautiful, natural patterns. It was quiet, powerful, and completely unforgettable.
After exploring the cave, we made our way back with the sleds. The return journey was just as beautiful, with the same stunning views and peaceful atmosphere.
This experience is the perfect combination of adventure, nature, and something truly unique. If you're visiting Svalbard, a dog sledding tour with an ice cave visit is something we can't recommend enough.
